Second Leg
I think that some college or other higher education institution should offer us honorary degrees in fitting a lot of stuff into a small space. Do they have degrees in such a thing? So we crammed it up to Leadville, loaded in at Bobbie's place and had dinner at Quincy's. Quincy's is this sorta Leadville institution. Your options on the menu are how big of a steak you want and how you want it cooked. Butter and sour cream on your potato? That's it. Apparently they have veggie lasagna but I don't want to think about that. I love that place. The show at Bobbie's was one of our best, just had a really good time playing, I think we were very comfortable. Thanks Leadville! Then we hung out with some... ahem, interesting Leadvillians. Yep... that was weird. The next day we put-putted our way to Boulder with a stop at chez Demmon (thanks for the eats you guys! and ps. lisa got her beer in one piece) Boulder was cool. You know, I must confess that I sort of had a bad image of Boulder. Never having visited, I was expecting to be assaulted with tofu the moment I walked into town despite the fact that we were indeed carpooling and being very green. Well I didn't get assaulted with tofu, and I was left feeling like a heel for my earlier misconceptions about this town which seemed just like a lot of other towns. The crowd was fun there, dancy folks who were havin a good time... Ok so I'm a heel. Now comes the interesting part. We left Boulder after our show at about 2am and drove straight through to Telluride. We drove in shifts and chased the moon across Colorado (the moon-set was beautiful by the way) to arrive at Telluride around 9am. We all slept for a few hours then set up on our friend Neko's porch under the beautiful peaks and played three sets of fun music for a bunch of rowdy and fun people. thanks you guys, that was a hoot. After the show we went to the New Sheridan and had a few beers and eventually made it back and... here we are! Gunnison, Colorado on Weds the 31st. Cheers!

1st Leg... awesome
Jackson was awesome, a great show at the mangy moose. We played freedom of 76 for some philly kids, that was funny. Following day we followed the town downhill at 43 North. Despite the fact that we were competing with a nice sunny day and a gorgeous outdoor patio, we had a lot of fun. Thanks to Rob for stickin your neck out and getting us the show. Thanks to Dustin for the place to crash and the great times! Noah at the Moose, great job with sound it was fun! Heading back to Colorado, we stayed with the Mattice family who got us some lift tickets and put us up for a great time in the Aspen area. Over to Salida for St. Patty's day, we played a really fun show with ample carbombs. Molly and Suzi, thanks for the fun night. The next day we headed up to Leadville to prime the bar for next week's show... Memories of this event are hazy at best and should probably be left in the hazy pit rather than recalled here. Denver, Colorado was awesome, showed up at the new Quixote's kind of uncertain about what was going on. There were 5 bands there and a few had been sorta double booked. The beauty of Quixote's and the other Bianchi bars is that no matter what happens, they just make it work. We played from 12:00-2:15 and had a blast. Thanks to Courtney & friends for coming to our shows, thanks to Jay, and hell thanks to Whiskey Tango, the really cool band who also played that night. We ended up attending an after party with them and playing bluegrass tunes till the wee hours. Great times, guys, thank you! The following night we headed to Washpark Grill and had a great show, but we were a little bit on the tired side from the great party the previous night. A long trip back to D-town where we stay for a couple days until we head back out on the road. Aftergrass managed to fit 5 people, Mackie PA speakers (the big ones), mixing board, 2 monitors, 3 amps, a drumset, 4 pairs of skis, 1 snowboard, ski/snowboard boots, poles, and personal gear into a Dodge Carevan all wheel drive minivan. There wasn't even room for a fart in there, but we made it work. Leadville's on friday, kids!

Telluride
We had a really fun show at the Llama in Telluride thanks to the party people who came out for the show. The Llama is a pretty damn cool place. try the duck burrito. in other news.. we're doing one more little show sans Jesse, this will be opening for the notorious WHURM at the Summit on Feb 19th. We're trying to get our hands on a certain guitarist who is gonna make it fun. Otherwise we're just gonna pick a banjo. Speaking of picking a banjo, i wrote a new song last night. Check it out

Whew
It was pretty wild playing a show with 2 new members... for one we had Neal from the sweats on drums, then we had me playing guitar, that qualifies as a new member right? We had trouble locking in with short notice and the show wasn't your average aftergrass show to be sure, but we learned a lot, and we'll always do our best to make something happen under any circumstances. Thanks also to Aaron Lombardo who sat in on drums for a few songs. "Normal" Aftergrass returns at La Montoya in Telluride on Feb 12th.

Aftergrass Adapts
So Jesse got an offer to work the x-games in aspen. no self respecting ski industry dork can pass up such an offer, so off he goes. we decided that we could get a sub guitarist and teach them our setlist, but that's a lot of work for a guitarist, so we figured let's get a sub drummer and i'll play guitar. aftergrass like you've never seen us, c'mon out for fun in the sun.

Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Keller!
The Gunnison show was great, good people in that town and they like to get down. Thanks Alex for the place to stay :) Between Gunnison and CB we got some skiing in and took a band field trip to see one of our favorites, Keller Williams at the Belly Up in Aspen. (Thanks Mattices!) Rocked the beav then headed back to Crested Butte to open for Trampled By Turtles at the Eldo. We've always sorta caught a rough break when we've played in Crested Butte. Great people and lotsa fun, but just never generated a buzz, usually played on something like like a tuesday. Well, that's all fixed now, we played a packed eldo, then enjoyed the rest of the night, slept a bit (thanks CB) and skiied. We manage to have a lot of fun on the road, and do some great bonding things... Skiing together (ok bob snowboards) Bowling (oh hell yeah eljebowl), having drinks, having fun, then we get to play music too! damn i love playing in this band.

ski tour goodies
Leadville and Salida were great, thanks to the lovely Bobbie in Leadville for the best tasting PBR there is (maybe it's the altitude?) and a great time. Thanks to Molly and all the folks at the Vic in Salida, we had a blast, and we really needed that second night in the hotel, you're rad. Skiing at Monarch was good good good, and we're ready for Gunnison tomorrow night. whooooo hoooooooo!

2010
the path goes ever onward, and shit on a shingle, it's fun. Our new years show was a blast, a packed house in sweaty silverton, 9000 feet above the sea. we stayed up late, we had lots of fun, we slipped and slid down icy roads. the night after new years we played the summit for what we thought was going to be a dead night. It wasn't it was really fun. We played with Diabolical Sound Platoon who has added live instrumentation to their act, it's fantastic. We all did a jam together at the end that was fun too! Up north this week to lead vegas, salida, and hopefully some epic skiing.
