best show yet...
1 member of the audience of our Leadville show is worth 10 ordinary audience members. Jumping dancing, pushing shoving throwing barking and a bit of slobbering. They were one of the coolest audiences we ever had the pleasure of playing for. Thanks to the Leadville crew for putting us up. At 10,200 feet, I think I can safely say we were the highest band in america last night. Bobbie's is the coolest place and Bobbie herself is the coolest gal this side of the mississippi. She took great care of us and made us feel welcome.. This won't be our last time in Leadville. Today we dealt with wiring issues with the truck, the uhaul and the cold. We're now kickin back at chez bob's parents regrouping for our opener with Yamn tomorrow night.

The shows are great but....
The skiing is fantastic... We woke up early tuesday and despite still breathing tecate fumes we managed to get on the hill by mid morning. Thanks to Drew for showing us around to some of the sickest and steepest terrain we'd had the pleasure to ride. A white out millenium falcon in hyperdrive style drive over the pass brought us to leadville where we'll be playing tonight. Bob and I wrote a song today about a lecherous miner who beats his wife only to be buried alive in the mine while she dances on the collapsed entrance. Fun stuff. It's great traveling with these complete wackos and staying with some more complete wackos, thanks to cody & company for letting us fill up their house. I think there must have been 12 people crashed in this tiny old leadville house last night. The washing machine backs up into the bathtub, making it a young ones style pool of eerily scummy blue water. It's the small things that make life so beautiful.

Too busy skiing to ski...
We're hitting the road for a few shows in early March. Like real ski bums we'll be skiing more than playing, but that's mostly because with the CD release we kinda leapt in a little late on booking gigs, but c'est la vie eh? We've been practicing our vocals, practicing our songs, writing new songs, and generally having a great time with all the sickie snow that's been coming down all winter. We've done the Second Life concert thing, which I think's been good for us because a. it's forced us to rehearse at a closer energy level to a live show and b. we get our music out to people all over the world. So that part's been fun, drop in any time... We're about to get the second CD started, so that'll be fun. We've got new pics and music on the way soon.... soon come. Oh yeah, we've got tee shirts, too, if you'd like one just use the contact form to let us know, I can't really maintain the inventory well, so I don't want to put a button up for them... they're $15 and come in medium large or xl. We have girls' shirts on the way, so stay tuned there.

Cheers for beers

Sorry it has been a while....
Sorry we've been sort of slacking on the ol journal here... The CD release party was a success, we played a good show and were lucky enough to be joined by Sand Sheff for the second set and Brandon Herrera (did I spell that right, Rodrigo?) who just might be the best conga player on this good planet. The Sand Sheff show the friday before our CD release was awesome, Sand is one inspirational person and a helluva good friend to us halfgrassed aftergrassers...

We played again on Friday at the Summit for snowdown... we started early played a long show with the help of DJ Mowgli who kicked ass. He joined us on the turntables for a hip version of So What by Miles Davis, that was a hoot. We had a great time... it was a crazy drunken event... thanks to all of our friends who showed up with bells on. 30 pack crowd surfed... at the SUMMIT... never saw that before!

So we're playing another virtual show on the video game Second Life this coming Sunday, the 10th. It's going to be a really fun thing, and won't cost you a cent...You need a reasonably fast internet connection to get there and hear us. Once you're in the game do a search for "aftergrass" and you'll find us... We're playing at this hippy joint on a scale model of the Grateful Dead's Wall Of Sound it's hilarious. Apart from that, we're just being ourselves. Jesse got an astrovan to tour around with in march, so that'll be fun.. We also took a new updated band photo in the frickin 10 feet of snow outside (which is awesome)

So A. Our CD is available on the digital download service Digstation. Link Below, iTunes coming soon.

DigStation - Indie Music Downloads

Now that we've finished with that official claptrap, the good news. Sand Sheff, who wrote the song "Wet Dog" that is on our CD as well as hundreds of other fantastic songs is coming back to Durango after a several year hiatus. He's released 3, yes THREE new CDs in 2007 and he's got excellent new material. I'll be playing bass at his show as well, which should be fun since I'm usually stuck behind the drums. The Show is Friday the 18th at 7pm at the Henry Strater Theatre (Formerly the Diamond Circle Theatre) nice and early so you can get some rest to be ready for our CD RELEASE PARTY the following evening. We've got 9 songs written for our new CD... oh yes...

Happy New Year!
Another Silverton New Years... The Miner's tavern was jam packed for the show, which started early with the Good Neighbors who rocked it... The Antibodies followed and Artikle after that. We got going around 11 and rang in the new year with "Blue Sofa Of Love" and Kelly's first live trombone performance (see pic) I think he did quite well. We had an absolutely fantastic time. Silverton is just one of those places... So you might have heard me say it is lawless up there, but I'm not allowed to say that anymore, apparently the San Juan County Sheriff's Office wasn't thrilled that the Durango Herald repeated that line in their "What To Do On New Years" article. Ooops. Ok, it isn't lawless, there's just about 3000 really drunk people on any given holiday and like 2 cops. Maybe what I meant to say is that the Sheriff's department there does their job, they serve and they protect without bugging everyone about silly things. That's chill. Good cops!
Well the lawlessness didn't get too out of control apart from some spectacular chick fights and the total and complete drunken meltdown of a troubled troubadour. The boys, on the other hand, were very well behaved. There was a lot of work put into this evening from many people... Our good friend Chris organized and promoted the event and took great care of everyone. Ryan, our sound guy, flipped his truck last week and it wasn't the pretty roll roll roll your truck kind of roll, it was the ugly ass over teakettle engine to tailgate kinda roll. He escaped with stitches, a jacked up shoulder and bumps and bruises (but some nasty ones) but was still there with bells on, and made us sound great... Check out some of the new pics on the pics page. The Good Neighbors, Artikle, and The Antibodies dealt with shortened sets which can be a total bummer, but they all played great and rocked the crowd. In retrospect there was probably 1 too many bands, but hey, it worked out. The Miner's tavern suffered a complete onslaught of debauchery and bore it well. I'm sure the bar did ok... We'll be back to Silverton many many many times in the future. In the meantime, don't forget that our CD RELEASE PARTY is on January 19th at the Summit in Durango.

Odd
So, I did check out this second life deal the frenchies were talking about. The circa 1998 graphics quality is made up for by a very creative environment. Is it a game? Not quite but sort of. Is it a social networking tool? Certainly. Like the first life there are some really cool things in there and some not so cool things, but basically the opportunities for creativity are all there, so that's cool. Having said that I should let you know that we're going to be playing a concert in there. We'll set up to stream to a streaming server which will in turn stream in a concert venue in second life where little animated aftergrass figures will cycle through preprogrammed routines to the music we're actually playing. For those unwilling to immerse themselves into second life, you'll be able to listen with iTunes over our streaming radio station Steal This Music. STEALTH IS MUSIC LEO STOLLER!

In other news, click around the site, we've been cleaning the place up a bit, adding some new pics, new sounds and other fun stuff.

Our CD release party is officially January 19th
