new years eve, who night, cd release
The last week or so we've used to refine the mix, and refine the artwork, and even dump a song... The cd is now 15 songs because, frankly one of the songs just didn't cut it.. it is a good song, I think it was just having a bad day, so.. next time, song, next time. We're playing at KDUR's Who Night on November 10th, it's going to be really fun, we're rockin a few who songs and will be in some great company. come out to support KDUR, they are without a doubt the very best radio station in a 300 mile radius. heck they're the best radio station in a 16,000 mile radius if you ask me, but you didn't. We're wisely not booking our CD release until we've got 1000 shrink wrapped copies in our hands, because that would be dumb. Come see us on myspace, we've been rotating in some of the new tracks on our music page therein.

done! sort of
It's done... 16 songs... this is the project we've been anticipating for literally years! a lineup change made us start over, our natural tendency towards slacking slowed us down, equipment issues and general lack of equipment made it hard sometimes, but recording is done. Most of the mixing is done too, at this point we're just adding one more coat of polish and sending the mix off for mass production on tuesday. The artwork is done, the order of the songs is picked, after countless missed CD release dates, we're going to release this pig! We're not putting the cart before the horse and scheduling a release party just yet, but stay tuned and we'll have a date for you soon.

It looks like we'll be back at the Miner's Tavern on New Year's Eve. We've left the New Year's show in the hands of a good friend of ours who is putting on the show. There will be at least 2 bands opening, the Antibodies and Artikle, a local hip hop act we've known for years (formerly necessary noncents) and some other sort of insanity happening, stay tuned for details.

cheers

so close, rabbit, so close...
well, i'll hastily admit that we're past our scheduled cd release date. we are, however, dangerously close to being done. the artwork is being done right now, the songs are done (mostly) and the order is picked.. a little duplication a week or so of turnaround time, and you'll be able to buy, steal, or burn our cd.

One more year of Wolf Creek
Those of us who've enjoyed Wolf Creek Ski Area over the years have another year to enjoy it before a bunch of rich yahoos turn it into little texas. US District Judge John Kane just halted progress on the development that will essentially ruin Wolf Creek pass, Wolf Creek Ski Area, and life as we know it. Kane basically issued a ruling preventing construction of two roads needed to make this thing happen... In case you don't know about it, the "Village At Wolf Creek" is a project by a billionaire texan who wants to put lodging, homes, etc for 10,000 people at the base of this otherwise pristine ski area in the middle of what some call nowhere. I know what you're thinking... ski area? pristine? but it is... very few runs have been cut through the trees that make great skiing, a lot of the place is above timberline, and they frequently receive excellent environmental ratings (unlike our own durango mountain real estate & partial ski area) You know, I think southwest colorado needs some for fatsos in escalades, don't you? I've said before that we're not texist, but between the jesus freaks at the coffee shop, this asswipe developer and our moron president.... texas is lookin pretty shitty. Lucky for good texans you've got Willie Nelson sitting on the other end of that see-saw. Put his horse on there and it might start to even out. Either way, if you'd like to help or want more information, go to Colorado Wild's Webpage

A summer of good venues....
We've had this fantastic summer of great gigs in some of the most beautiful venues imaginable. Let's say it all started with our 4th of July show at the Miner's Tavern in Silverton. (Oh yeah, we'll be back at the Miner's for New Year's Eve) The stellar fireworks show, the packed house, and the general debauchery. Moving on we had a few great shows at the Summit, but let's move to august where we played the 1st annual vallecito music festival (beautiful), the Rappland rock fest (12,000 foot stage? sick!), the 'scade fest (outlaw baby) and most recently a rainy pasture in the north valley. It was beautiful and rainy, people dancing in the rain, carrying 100lb speakers up slippery muddy hills, the whole thing. Thanks to Adam for putting it on, we had a blast, thanks to Angst for Nothing for dropping in, and most especially the Antibodies, who absolutely kicked ass, they're one of my new favoritea in town for sure, i'm sure you'll see us sharing a stage with them again soon. What makes them so cool was their laid back attitude about sharing equipment, playing in the rain, and being just humble and cool... I think attitude is half of a good band before they even play a note. Lots of bands could learn a lot from these kids... Sick time!

What will they do next?
So check this out. In not such an unusual event a 70 year old Utah woman was forcibly knocked to the ground, bloodied, and handcuffed by police after refusing to water her lawn. Yes.. the arid west, where lawn should be the very last priority (apart from the Bellagio water show). You know, we wrote "war with utah, not iraq" years ago, and sometimes I'll hear it and feel like we're intolerant of utah, but happenings like this re-enforce the fact that Utah is theocratic police state... Maybe that song should go on the CD afterall....

Scadefest
So we played SCADEFEST 07 on Friday night. It was a meadow, a gorgeous view, a hazmat van with a big generator, a few kegs, a big gooseneck trailer and some freaks. perfect. We had a great time, thanks for throwin that party.

Mixing and redrumming
We're mixing away on the CD, it is a fun yet tedious process. Part of doing this entire CD ourselves has been learning quite a bit about sound, and mixing in general. We'll record a song, mix it, add effects, add more effects, change some things, and then drop all the effects to find it sounds better raw. Lather Rinse Repeat. There are nearly 10 songs finished, and a few more about half way there. I've been toying with an old aftergrass song called "trees" which won't end up on the CD but may find its way to the website. We're planning to release quite a bit of old scappy tracks via the website after the CD comes out, so stick around for that. Other than that... happy september!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
You've just got to love when some gay bashing jesus-totin holier than thou douchesickle like Larry Craig gets arrested for fishing for blumpkins in a public restroom. These guys are all crooked and evil and they do it in the name of religion and family. It is amazing. Don't get me wrong, Jesus was one of the coolest cats who ever lived and I don't want to be some wishy washy liberal jesus hater either, but the religious right in this country has drug our hippy friend Jesus through countless mudpuddles. They seem to think that Jesus had an interest in what two adults do to each other in their homes. Well, I think if Jesus hated one thing, it was hypocrites. Well, this guy got his due, at least partially. After voting against laws that would classify gay bashing as a hate crime he gets busted for being lewd in public seeking some hot steamy gay sex. I LOVE IT! When things like this happen it reminds me that the universe wasn't so badly designed and that what goes around indeed comes around. So Larry... Fuck you! I hope you choke on a penis.
