St Patty
Well, Kelly is hurtin bad, a fractured vertebrae or two has him pretty laid out. We'll be pulling off this show with Brian Marks, Jared Thompson, and Josh Spaeder on guitar, raps, and percussion. Hopefully we can fill in the hole left by kelly's loud little mandolin. Ski season has taken its toll on us this year. Are we getting more reckless or just getting old? hah... reckless all the way. The animas is flowing at around 777 cubic feet per second, which means lady sativa (the official aftergrass watercraft) will be hitting the waves soon, hopefully as soon as tomorrow. Make sure you come out to the Summit tonight!

Oh, PS, we'd like to welcome to the planet earth little Lian Fitzgerald (or just lil'fitty, if you must), who was born on March 14th. In a few years she'll be playing keyboards on our album which will still be in the making....

More upcoming shows, recording
We've got 2 shows coming up soon, the first of which is the St. Patty's Day blowout at the Summit. They'll be offering sweet drink specials, green jello shots, and other fruity items. The party gets rolling when the doors open at 7, with special guest DJs spinning dub reggae & trance. Aftergrass will hit the stage around 9:30. The second show will be an opener for the High Rolling Loners on weds April 11th. The High Rolling Loners are described as "California Roots Rock" and you can check them out on their Myspace Page

In other news, we've been rockin on the recording process. We've got a rough CD of 18 tracks done, and now we're polishing it. I've been toying with the idea of doing some sort of CD preview event which would take place online. We'd use our streaming media server to play the album and get your feedback. Stay tuned!

Tia Writes...

All I know is I just made seven ham and cheese sandwiches and its not even three in the mornin! I think the highlight of my night was cody bashing his head in; fallin off not three, but two stairs. I think he was in a rush cuz sister biscuit was runnin for her life with my brand-new trailer hitch! I done saw her runnin around town with it! Thanks to him we missed most of the show but I'm sure it was a life changin experience.

thanks for having us, telluride!

winter
We're doing our winter thing. Jesse is up in Leadvania skiing like a bum. The rest of us are down here skiing like bums. We've been experimenting with a program called "abelton live" which is a recording program which has several big differences to protools. It is more about piecing the music together instead of just playing it after hitting record. We'll have some tracks up soon, stay tuned. other than that, we'll see you on the hill.

oh yeah, if you play poker with Bob, insist that he shuffle.

my head still hurts
what a week (last week) we had our little jazz combo gig (bob & I) on weds, Tyson's cd release party thursday where bob, kelly & eric performed. A party to attend Friday & Saturday both, and a benefit gig at the Summit on Sunday. The benefit was for local snowboard legend Nancy Vogel who, due to a medical emmergency, had to be airlifted to Denver. A great night, great people. We've got a few new songs in the recording stage, our cd is getting closer. Jesse will be taking off for Lead Vegas for a month or two, so we'll be making limited appearances in that time, but will be popping up in a ski town near you for sure! The rest of us are skiin, bummin, and skibummin.

2007... all is well...
You have probably heard me say this a hundred times after good shows, but there are times that re-affirm why we play music, and the fact that music is good. New Year's Eve in Silverton, Colorado was one such show. Aside from a drunken dipshit playing tackle me elmo after the show, the town of silverton was out with smiles and bells on. We would like to thank Ryan, who came to do sound and did a marvelous job. A lot of people thought we got better, i'd say we're the same... we just sounded better. Ryan brought a system that would fill the air at madison square garden, let alone at a bar in Silverton. His expertise made us sound better than ever and luckily, for all of us, we had a packed house to appreciate the great sound. Brian Marx, formerly of M-Theory, also joined us for some songs with screeeching melodies. You know how they make drum machines? If they were to make a guitar machine, Brian would be a good template, you turn him on and he makes people say "wow" until he puts down the guitar, and sips a beer quietly on the side of the stage until needed again. Thanks Brian... Thanks Ryan... Thanks to the POW in Silverton, and Thanks to all the Silvertonian gnomes who crawl from their subterranean lairs each new year's eve with only one thing in mind... "let's party till the sun comes up"

Our Friend Tyson...
Tyson Snyder, one of the rappers from Dialogue, has released a solo album. Dialogue contained 2 members of aftergrass and one of the other rappers from dialogue just played a show with us (see sidebar sound player) Tyson is big, shy, neurotic and beautiful. His album is fantastic. I don't know where you can buy it but you could check Tyson's Myspace Account Get this album. There is at least some small part of aftergrass included in these tracks, and a lot of really good poetry. YOU BUY NOW!

SAVE THE SOYBEANS! KILL A TURKEY!
I would like to make a statement from PETS or People for the Ethical Treatment of Soybeans. This barbaric trend of destroying beautiful soy beans to make this tofu turkey must be stopped! Studies produced by scientists who don't seem to exist prove that soy beans have feelings and complex emotions. You should see the appaling conditions under which soybeans are harvested, brutally ripped from their protective pods, and frozen alive! Human teeth show clearly that we aren't supposed to be eating these beautiful and innocent soybeans. Please, for the sake of all that is good, evolve with us and stop eating soybeans. You see, here at PETS we firmly believe that we're right and that anyone who doesn't share our view is an unevolved barbaric hillbilly. Sound familiar? Happy Thanksgiving!!! Enjoy your juicy, succulent turkey.

First Live Recording in Ages...
We had a blast at the Summit on Friday, yet again. The Summit is a great place. It was a fairly mellow night, great dancy crowd, not as large as some nights. We had a great show, and got a recording. You'll see that we have this fancy pants mp3 player here on the right. We're going to be using this so you can hear us, but we'll still offer songs for download on our songs page. Either way, I'm working on getting the live stuff from friday night imported to the site.

We were lucky enough to be joined by our great friend Josh Spaeder on percussion and Jared Thompson of Dialogue on rhymes. It made the night! Thanks to all..

Oh yeah, one more thing.. the Purgatory gig has been pushed back to December 2nd, as there is no snow.

HODSON!!!
We had a great night in Pagosa Springs, it's just a sweet little town filled with cool people who get down and party. Personally, I always considered this area the Bible Belt of Colorado, and didn't know what to expect from a Pagosa crowd. Turns out these guys get down. We'll be returning to the buffalo on december 8th. We were lucky enough to be joined on stage by John Hodson, a founding member and the sickest dirty bastard i've ever met. Thanks to little Ann, coolest bartender in town, and thanks to whoever made those fuckin' wings. The wings at that place kick serious ass. We played from 9pm till 2am almost straight through. We didn't leave till almost 3 and Bob smacked a deer and waffled his car. We did some sardine-like packing of people and gear and got everyone home by about 4:30.
