Harvest Time
We'll be playing this event on Saturday, Sept 12 around 10pm
This year, La Boca Center for Sustainability is collaborating with 4c for the *2nd Annual Harvest Festival *for a three day, camp-out celebration of our local abundance. There will be daily live music, workshops, trade circles, and shared evening meals. Music will include local bluegrass, reggae, hip-hop, electronica and more. Workshops will include permaculture, mycology, food preservation, timber framing, milling, fire starting, basket weaving, plant walks, sweat lodge construction, crochet, drawing, watercolor, cold frame building, apple pressing and whatever else the community might like to share! Families and the greater four corners community are encouraged to attend the festival. The event is supported by Durango Food Not Bombs, Culture Brothers, Durango Youth Coalition, Turtle Lake Refuge, Lightning Communications, Ska Brewery, Mandala Dyes, Nature’s Oasis and generous and talented local people of all kinds.written by: eric edited on: August 31, 2009 |

July 31st at the Summit It's been a while since we just had a good ol' fashioned Aftergrass show at our local, the Summit. Friday, July 31st we're gonna rock the house over there, so come out and get your groove on with us! Other than that we're sort of having a lazy summer, getting ready for our Blues and Brews show.

Great week, canceled show We played the main stage at the Silverton Jamboree, it was a great time, we went on before the rain and before Tony Furtado (who kicked ass) after that we played the Juke Joint at the Miner's Tavern in Silverton, it was also sweet. Unfortunately the Miner's tavern doesn't want us there on the 4th because apparently we bring a "rough crowd" although, if I remember correctly it was some local Silverton gals smashing each other's faces into things the last time we played there, we didn't bring them. Then there was the dildo who starts fights at all of our Silverton shows, a rabid drunken local who has no business breathing, let alone hanging out at bars. Oh well. We're going to move the party (and consequently the bar tabs) to private land in the hills so we can avoid getting the public lands people angry. Then we went over to Telluride for the bluegrass festival where we played both the bubble lounge and the brown dog. Great times. We were very excited to play to a new crowd.
We were scheduled to play the Derailed on June 25th to make up for the double booking that happened last month. They made up for it alright, and double booked us again. They've double booked lots of folks. They've done some shady stuff to other local bars. They think they're the shit. I think that we should actively boycott them, maybe they'll go under and be forced to sell the business to someone who is humble enough to do business in a small town.
On July 8th we'll be at the Summit (a local music venue without a shitty attitude) opening up for the Stereofidelics, a really cool band from Asheville, NC. After that we're going to regroup, write some new material, do some chillin, and get ready for the exciting end of the summer. written by: eric edited on: June 24, 2009 |

Some old funny stuff
I'm doing some late spring cleaning through Aftergrass stuff over the last 8 years, old flyers, old recordings, some funny old photos, just some funny stuff in general... I stumbled across one of the funnier items... well two of them. The story goes that Kelly and I were playing with Dialogue, touring around Colorado and we ended up at the Eldo in Crested Butte and it was a very slow night, to make matters worse the hiphop acts we were opening for shows up with no turntables... (what? yep) so basically we're left with a small crowd and we ended up just playing some backing beats for the rapper for a while but then it just got to the point where.. well you know that point. So we were trying to think of something to do, and we decide, hey let's play What's Inside (the aftergrass song jesse wrote)... I didn't have a vocal mic in the early Dialogue days, so I told Kelly I'd write the words down for him... I wrote them on this super small guest check. You could hardly see anything in the dim light and basically it took me giving them to him to realize there was no way in hell he could possibly read a single word of what I wrote. Oh well.. Whatcha gonna do!?written by: eric posted on: June 08, 2009 |

Live CD is Finished Well, it's done. I think.. No really.. it is done. We're working on an easy way to sell the CD from this website, rather than waiting for CD baby, iTunes, and all that nonsense. We should have a fancy pants shopping cart ready to roll in the next day or so, stand by! written by: eric posted on: June 03, 2009 |

Derailed Show Canceled Due to something or other, our derailed show for Friday night has been canceled. Turns out they double booked us and our friends A-Dub-Rock Band with Tony Culture. To keep it all smooth, we're skipping our spot and heading for the Battle Of The Animas party on Monday at Mild to Wild. Catch some or all of us at Moe's Starlight Lounge Friday at 6.
