Big ups to the rental shop We played the Purgatory rental shop party monday night, after a 1 or 2 year break from playing this event, we were pleased to see that the rental shop parties harder than any other department up there. They don't ski around in silly clothes, they don't act silly, they just party hearty. I don't know if this was planned well or we are getting old, but the cops didn't break us up, disappointingly. Apparently we were warned. Unflippin real. Great times, see you degenerate freakos next year!

What a weekend... Well... It all started out kinda of neat. The wind was blowing so hard on Friday that it put an eerie, ominous haze over the entire area, we got the 5 of us and all of our gear skillfully tetris'd into the astrovan and headed up the pass. Near hesperus, the engine went pop and we were sol. We ended up hobbling the car back to Durango (all down hill) and getting into two cars, my jeep and kelly's truck (neither completely roadworthy) and reloading all the gear and setting out again, an hour behind but determined to play our show in Telluride. By the time we reached Mancos it began to rain mud. Yep, rained mud. All the dust in the air mixed with all the rain in the air. Mud rain. Far out. We continued our journey and shortly past Delores it was a whiteout allllll the way to Lizard Head Pass. We picked our way through he whiteout, made it over the pass, and on the way down, ended up sliding out on a bend, and sailing off the edge of the road and about 30 feet down a very steep hill, landing in a powder puff. Suffice to say, we had to cancel our gig, but the good people at the Bubble Lounge in Telluride took great care of us, Thanks Guys!
After a long night in Telluride and some uneasy sleep, we got the jeep towed out (a project) and headed home for our strater show. We set up, soundchecked, had a great time but had a pretty thin crowd, although we were very happy about the show in general. For one, it was a show, not a gig at a bar, that was different for us. We played all original music apart from a few covers in our acoustic set. We played an acoustic set! Jesse switched to banjo, I played guitar and Bob brought his upright bass. That was a fun thing for us. Scottie, our good friend from the Summit across the street put us on the guestlist for the Pato Banton show, so by the time we got broken down and loadded out, we headed to the Summit and wittled the night away listening to classic Pato (go, Pato, aftergrass is tellin ya to) All in all it was a bizzare weekend of dramatic near death car ballet, telluride oddness, a surreal show in a haunted theatre (Shhhh), and a great reggae show. All in all a great big funtime. Next show: 4/20 with A DUB ROCK BAND, kickass Reggae. Following that, April 23rd with the Voodoo Organist. Good times for the entire family! written by: eric posted on: April 05, 2009 |

April 4th - Strater Theatre We're playing a show at the Strater Theatre on April 4th. Proceeds with benefit Conscious Creative Cultural Connection, a local organization dedicated to uniting community by embracing nature, sharing inspiration and celebrating creativity. We'll most likely be shootng video and/or recording the show, this could be the long awaited live album, and YOU can be on it, hollaring in the background. It would mean a lot for us if you were there!
April 4th, 8pm! It will be the most unique Aftergrass show you've ever seen. Pato Banton plays the Summit afterwards, so it is going to be a great night of music!
